Worth Watching:

60 Minutes at Mount Athos:  Bob Simon steps back in time when he gets rare access to monks in ancient monasteries on a remote Greek peninsula who have lived a Spartan life of prayer in a tradition virtually unchanged for a thousand years.  View Video

"Our Plymouth Rock".   A pictorial highway that transports you from the shores of ancient Greece to America. It tells the story of Greek immigrants finding themselves in a hostile and unknown land.  Go to http://www.stphotios.com/ and click on Video.

Mount Athos.  A 5-part series, approximately 55 minutes long.  Very interesting, especially for those interested in iconography.  The film is in English with Greek subtitles.    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p9B22VIfa40

The Island.   Somewhere in Northern Russia in a small Russian Orthodox monastery lives an unusual man whose bizarre conduct confuses his fellow monks, while others who visit the island believe that the man has the power to heal, exorcise demons and foretell the future.

COME WORSHIP WITH US

The Orthodox Church traces its history back 2000 years in an unbroken line to the apostles, speakers of Greek who walked and talked with Jesus Christ. Services at Assumption Greek Orthodox Church are spoken and chanted in Greek and English. Many of us are of Greek origin, but many come from a variety of ethnic backgrounds. Whether you are an Orthodox Christian or a seeker, we invite you to worship with us and to experience the beauty of our Divine Liturgy, which appeals to all the senses and is the center of Orthodox life.

IN THE BOOKSTORE:

Crosses and Suncatchers

One of the features of our former church on Beecher Road that stood out were the stained glass windows. Every visitor to our church commented on how beautiful they were. Now you can remember the beauty of those windows each day in your own home with your very own Suncatcher or Cross. Each one is hand-made by Demi Manutes-Pyles using pieces of the stained glass from Beecher Road. These one-of-a-kind Suncatchers are only $20 and the Crosses are $60, plus shipping. A few are available in the church bookstore, or you may order here to ensure that you don't miss out. It's a beautiful way to remember a beautiful church.
